Sound Kitchen Is Cooking With MultiMAX Alhambra, Cal.--The Sound Kitchen (Franklin, TN), the largest music recording facility in the southeast, has chosen Martinsound's MultiMAX multiformat monitor controller and remote to handle surround sound monitoring throughout its six recording studios. Dino Elefante, who co-owns the complex with his brother John, says, "We are extremely pleased. We're telling everyone about our 5.1 capability." "We inspected the available controllers and researched deep into all of them before selecting MultiMAX," reports Elefante." The alternative was to purchase a new console with the same functions built-in, but we want people to be able to use whatever console they want, and are familiar with, and not have to go through a learning curve." The 27,000 square foot facility boasts four Neve consoles, all fitted with Martinsound's Flying Faders motorized fader automation, and two SSL desks. "MultiMAX works elegantly on any console," notes Elefante. It integrates with any stereo mixing console to provide monitoring for 8-channel, 7.1, 5.1 and LCRS formats, and offers extensive downmixing functions to ensure backward compatibility on any playback system. The Sound Kitchen's MultiMAX is wired to a patchbay and can be quickly set up in any of the control rooms as required, with the internal pink noise generator, individual trim controls and easy-to-read setup menus facilitating effortless calibration of the associated speaker systems. "The type of monitor system is at the client's request," explains Elefante. "Some people like Genelecs, others choose KRKs, and we have one client who prefers [Yamaha] NS-10s." Through the use of MDACs MultiMAX provides precise level control of multiple speaker systems, including stereo and mono, and offers individual channel solo and mute, and overall dim control. Sound Kitchen's MultiMAX has already been put to work on several sessions for VH-1, including a Donna Summer special, and for TNN (The Nashville Network). The Sound Kitchen has hosted sessions by a long list of major recording artists that includes Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Tammy Wynette, Jimmy Buffett and Elton John. Martinsound, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of specialized audio products for experts in the fields of recording, post production, mastering and broadcast. Media contact:
